In the Unicode Standard v. 5.1, this range has 34 characters. The selection below, which is new in v. 2.0 of the MUFI character recommendation, contains the superscript and subscript numbers 0–9. Superscript numbers can be used to differentiate variant character forms (allographs) in display and in print, while subscript numbers are often used to indicate line numbers, also both in display and in print. The superscript numbers 1, 2 and 3 are included in Latin-1 Supple- ment, p. 24 above, as 00B9, 00B2 and 00B3 respectively.
