The Unicode Standard v. 5.1 has six precomposed characters with both diaeresis and macron, ‘A’, ‘a’, ‘O’ and ‘o’ in Latin Extended-B, and ‘U’ and ‘u’ in Latin Extended Additional. Of these characters, only ‘O’ and ‘o’ have been included here (p. 39). The present subrange contains one more precomposed character with this combination. The Unicode Standard advises encoding characters of this type as a sequence of the baseline character and the COMBINING DIAERESIS (0308) and the COM- BINING MACRON (0304), and this way of encoding has been given as an alternative for the character below.
